What to Pack for an Aruba Adventure Trip
Short answer: pack for sun and wind more than heat — Aruba’s trade winds mask how much sun exposure you’re actually getting, and that’s what catches most adventure travelers off guard, not the temperature.
For any activity day
- Reef-safe sunscreen — required at some protected snorkel sites, and better for the reef everywhere
- A hat with a strap or chin cord — the wind will take a loose hat off a boat or a UTV
- A dry bag or waterproof phone pouch for boat trips
- Water shoes — several beaches and shore-snorkel spots (Boca Catalina, Malmok) have rocky entry points
For off-road / UTV and jeep tours
- A bandana or buff to cover your mouth — convoy tours kick up real dust
- Sunglasses that stay on, or a strap — goggles are usually provided but sunglasses help on the drive too
- Closed-toe shoes, not sandals
- A swimsuit under your clothes — most UTV/jeep routes stop at the Natural Pool
For boat trips
- A light cover-up — shade is limited on smaller boats
- Motion sickness medication if you’re unsure how you’ll do — conditions can be choppier than expected outside the calm leeward coast
What nobody tells you upfront
Aruba’s steady trade winds make it easy to underestimate sun exposure — you don’t feel as hot as you are. Reapply sunscreen more often than you would somewhere more humid.
